Excel Television has been a fixture at the corner of Rockside and Aurora roads in Bedford Heights for half a century. Founded in 1948 by former owner Al Wiegand, gives the corporation 53 years of providing home service to their electronics customers.

Present owner Tim Murtz has 30 years of experience to bring to the field. Tim says that he took Electronics classes in high school, and after graduation went on to attend ETI in Cleveland, emerging with an Associate's Degree. He worked for Al until 1990 when Al retired and Tim bought the company. They provide service on a wide variety of products including Television, VCR's, Microwave ovens, Stereos, Intercom Systems, and Industrial Electronics.

Excel TV is a warranty service provider for many companies including Toshiba, RCA, Philips, Zenith, Samsung, and Goldstar on the Consumer Electronics side. Their customers can obtain Excel-ent service through Thomson and GE customer care service contracts as well. Additionally, they provide warranty service for NuTone Intercoms & appliances, and the Broan and ISB Companies. ISB is a manufacturer of UL Approved Industrial Safety equipment for large factories.

Tim is one of the area's largest Stocking Parts Distributor for NuTone, and has recently been honored with an award by that manufacturer for providing Excellent service for 30 years. Many times, he will be the ONLY Nutone distributor East of the Mississippi who will have a particular part In Stock for a customer. He has been a member of Nesda for 20 years, serving as an officer in various capacities, and is currently one of our three directors..

Tim, 48, and his wife, Patti live in Walton Hills on what used to be described as a "Wooded Lot". Last years tornado Spared their house but devastated their trees. Tim says that he now can pass the Lumberjack Qualification Test, and hasn't had to turn on his furnace all winter. Nesda is proud to have Tim, and Excel TV as a valued member.
